I learned to run direct mail campaigns at Google. I was working on Google's AdWords coupon infrastructure for small businesses and helped run large-scale mailing campaigns to acquire new customers. And it worked. Very well.
After leaving Google and joining the startup world, I designed and ran marketing campaigns for two startups. Both times, the direct mail campaigns had the highest return on investment (ROI) of any paid marketing channels, including online ads.
The problem was that I had to set up new systems and external partnerships each time I developed a direct mail channel. This included defining and buying mailing lists, downloading and working with the spreadsheets, mailer designs, and printing/fulfillment integration.
The mailers were successful, but the process was complex and time-consuming. So I set out to make direct mail quick and easy for any company, especially those without design and marketing departments to manage them.
Thus, LocalPostal was born.
